US OPEN 2014 Final Kei Nishikori vs Marin Cilic
Kei Nishikori of Japan and Marian Cilic of Croatia have entered into the Finals of the US OPEN Tennis 2014. US Open 2014 Final will be played at the flushing meadows, New York on the 7th of September 2014. Kei Nishikori is the 1st Japanese player to enter into the finals of any grand slam event. He has beaten Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the first semi finals to enter to the US Open Finals. Kei┬áNishikori has beaten Novak Djokovic 6-4 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-3. In the second semi finals match Marian Cilic of Croatia has beaten Former world number 1 and US Open champion Rogar Federar in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. After the Australian Open 2005, this will be the first men’s final of a grand slam final without at least one of Federer, Djokovic or Rafael Nadal. Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the US Open 2014 with an injury.
Kei Nishikori is ranked world No. 10 as of 6 September 2014. He is the only Japanese tennis player ever to be ranked inside the top 10 in ATP Singles Ranking. Nishikori was named ATP Newcomer of the Year in 2008. He has won five singles titles so far in his international career and his best grand slam performance was quarter-finals of the 2012 Australian Open. Today he has reached the finals of the 2014 US Open Tennis, making him the 2nd Asian male and first ever Japanese person to reach a Grand Slam singles final.
Marin Cilic’s best ever ATP singles ranking was World No. 9, achieved on 22 February 2010. At the 2014 US Open he has beaten Roger Federer in straight sets in the semi-final, to play with Kei Nishikori in the final. This year Marin Cilic reached the quarter finals of the Wimbledon 2014, where he lost to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic in 5 sets. His previous best performance at the US Open Tennis were Quarter Finals in 2012 and 2009. He has 67.47% win rate in all grand slams events in his career. from 2013 he has been trained by the farmer world number one player Goran Ivanisevic. Goran Ivanisevic has won the Wimbledon title in the 90’s.
