The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in South China's Guangdong Province hosted a five-day-long academic week which included a series of forums, lectures and exhibitions for researchers and artists.A forum about sculpture and public art on Tuesday aimed to discuss the art approaches in the East and West as Westernization and Dewesternization is a common issue Asian artists must deal with.
The forum also invited a number of scholars from the US, South Korea and Japan to join in on discussions about modern sculpture education.
The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts also unveiled a sculpture exhibition featuring works from China and South Korea. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition, which includes 154 artworks from the two countries, is being hosted in Guangzhou and is also available online.
